Solar System – Earth

Have you ever wondered about our Solar system? Each part of it is fascinating in its own right. Today let’s talk about the only planet in our solar system that we know of that can support life. It’s also the planet that we call home – Earth!

Earth is the third planet from the sun and it is a rocky planet with a solid surface and a thin atmosphere. Our atmosphere is made up of a mixture of gases, including nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The atmosphere protects us from the harsh radiation and space debris that would otherwise bombard our planet.

One of the most important features of Earth is its water. Our planet has vast oceans and other bodies of water, which cover about 70% of its surface. Water is essential for life as we know it, and it plays a crucial role in regulating our planet’s climate and weather.

One day on Earth lasts 24 hours, and one year (the time it takes for Earth to orbit once around the sun) lasts 365.24 days.

Earth is tilted on its axis, which means that different parts of the planet receive different amounts of sunlight throughout the year. This tilt is responsible for the changing seasons that we experience.
